“It’s only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up – that we will begin to live each day to the fullest as if it was the only one we had.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Allow me to share the story of a 92-year-old lady who was moving into a nursing home:
As she was being wheeled down the corridor, the attendant began to describe the room. ‘I love it,’ the old woman gushed.
‘But you haven’t even seen the room yet,’ the attendant reminded her.
‘That doesn’t have anything to do with it,’ she replied. ‘Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged. It’s how I arrange my mind.’
There’s an essential principle in this short story. Much of your success is decided in advance or ‘arranged in your mind.’ Circumstances alone will never determine your level of happiness.
Assume that whatever situation you are facing at present is precisely the right situation you need to be ultimately successful and happy. This situation has been sent to you to help you learn something; it’s a gift to help you improve as a human being and to help you expand and grow.
A positive mental attitude is vital to your success. You can be as positive as you want to be if you will simply think about the future, focus on the solution, and look for the good.
Use your mind to exert mental control over any situation and decide to be positive and cheerful.
Choose your mindset: Victor or Victim. And choose wisely!
